Idaho, here I go!!

I am in McCall, Idaho at the University of Idaho Forestry Camp. The views are great, but not as spectacular as I had hoped. It is still nothing compared to what I look forward to in the Sierra Nevada someday, but I love the giant redwoods that are EVERYWHERE :D

I am here with the amazingly wonderful organization known as the Student Conservation Association (SCA). I am a Fire Education intern and basically I deal with everything fire. Mainly our group will be working with Community Wildfire protection and planning, but we still get most of the technical training like WFA and GPS/GIS training which I am STOKED about.

The city.

When I first arrived in Boise I came in with a clean slate. No expectations for the city, not a clue - and I think that's the best way it could have ever been. I loved Boise, its so pedestrian, cyclist and even car friendly. Everyone there and I mean EVERYONE regardless of age or gender were all taking advantage of the green ways built by the city and the people are soooo nice too. It is certainly no New York city, but a fair 200,000 person and quite substantial capital in the West.

So I am here training for my internship, the first day was sort of boring- all the essential standard training/information - sexual harrasment, risk management, blah blah blah...

Sooner then later we will begin the WFA training (so excited!!) and GPS and some community wildfire focus.

Today I jumped into Lake Payette - it was FREEZING cold. But I had fun, I will put the pics up later...

oppps. gotta go
ttyl
